Manicures and pedicures are a relaxing, fun way to treat yourself. However, the products used in our favorite treat aren’t always the best. Don’t worry though! There are ways to avoid the harmful chemicals in our favorite mani/pedi products. Here are some things to look for or do on your next nail care session:
- Read what’s in your product. If your nail products have Toluene, DBP, Tosylamide/Formaldehyde, TPHP, Ethyl Acetate, Butyl Acetate, Camphor, or Benzophenone then it’s time to switch. Look for natural nail care products that advertise as 3 or 5 free. Or go really chemical free with Polston & Co’s 8-free lacquers.
- DIY when you can. Nail salons are usually guilty of using more chemical based products. Also, with the amount of usage of these products, it usually contaminates the air in the shop too. So when possible, DIY your mani/pedi in a well ventilated area.
- Cut out or use less. If you can’t live without a certain product, then just cut back on your usage. Or, if you don’t like what’s in the product, then cut it out. Read beauty blogs, browse social media, or find an expert that is knowledgeable in natural nail care products. This way, you can find a new favorite and get back to your beauty regimen.
Keeping up with your mani/pedi doesn’t have to be harmful! With a little research, you can find which natural products work best for you and limit (or even cut out!) those chemical heavy products. For more on 8- free natural nail care, visit our blog or our shop on PolstonandCo.com!
